A Brief History of Christ Academy
Christ Academy opened in September, 1953 as a kindergarten and primary school in the Parish House of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. In 1961, a new campus was built adjacent to Midwestern State University. Independently incorporated in April of 1967, a Board of Trustees assumed the governing of the school. The school currently operates as an independent, multi-denominational Christian school, which is governed by our own local Board of Trustees. As a nonprofit organization, the property of the school is vested in the corporation.
The Elementary School program was expanded to include a Middle School program beginning in the 1997-98 school year.
In order to better represent the multi-denominational student body, in October of 2005, the Board of Trustees voted to change the name to Christ Academy.
Christ Academy serves the children of Wichita Falls and the surrounding area by providing a challenging academic curriculum within a nurturing Christian environment to foster the development of the whole child. Academic achievement is "the rule and not the exception." Rich in tradition and family involvement, Christ Academy proudly teaches reverence and admiration of God and country. Striving to instill Biblical virtues including respect toward authority, compassion for others, honesty and self-discipline, the students are expected to be a model for and not a mirror of society.
