Bio: Nine miles from town and school, one mile from pavement, and hundreds of miles from the nearest art museum sits New Deal, Texas, where I was raised on my parents cotton farm. Life on the farm meant everyone had chores, and in the 50's and 60's, entertainment consisted of playing outdoors with my two older brothers and older sister. Fortunately, I loved to draw and do crafts, and my mother was very interested in art and accumulated a small library of art books featuring many of the masters and their works. I spent hours gazing at beauty that I did not know existed and a little girl had visions of creating her own works of art. I attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a B.A. in Art Education. I am the art teacher at The Episcopal School where I have taught for twenty years. I studied figure drawing with the late Steve Grey, and have studied with Kaye Franklin for ten years. For the past ten years I have traveled with Kaye and a small group of her students to Italy, Portugal, Arizona, and other U.S. areas where I painted and studied and learned from Kaye who is a truly amazing artist and mentor. I am also a member of The Outdoor Painters Society of Texas which sponsors painting trips throughout the southwest.
